Developing our Community Website

This is for the website of the community I live in. It serves both to provide the public infromation about us (incl history and news), as well as a place to store information we need to know in the community.

Other key factors are:

  • Data sovereignty – we need to own our knowledge, and should be able to transfer it without “lock-in” ✅ 2023-11-07

  • Long-term support and engagement – so it’s normalised like Slack is. ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Some  form of easy document writing with images ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Some form of calendar ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Clear and easy designation of Private and Public ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Inexpensive (the industry standards like Notion charge monthly per user and we don’t fit the definition of “non-profit” ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Open source ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Interactive Map to add stories to ✅ 2023-11-07
  • Interactive Timeline ✅ 2023-11-07
